Ellen Eagle was instructor on the workshop in June 2016. After returning from Croatia she wrote the following.
“Mario could not have been more devoted to our workshop. He is extremely organized, coordinating transportation, shopping trips, visits to historical and culturally significant sights, restaurant meals, and leisure activities which included swimming in the Adriatic. He set set up the natural light studio, which overlooks a field of poppies, in a most welcoming style. Easels and tables provided very comfortable and productive work spaces. The personal bouquets of flowers set at our easels, and the pitchers of lemon water were lovely touches. The students’ and instructor’s enjoyment and productivity were Mario’s priority, and his enthusiasm is infectious. He is simply a wonderful person, full of joy, with whom to share an exploration of our artistic visions and the Croatian landscape.
When their schedules permitted, Mario’s wife and son, Minja and Bartol, joined us in the studio and for outings; their company was absolutely delightful and enhanced our introduction to Istria.
The accommodations at Villa Gloria are heavenly – the swimming pool, tennis courts, very comfortable room overlooking the stunning grounds. The chef cooked delicious lunches and dinners for us, which we enjoyed each evening by the pool. And finally, I must mention Villa Gloria’s owner, Manda. Manda’s vivacious warmth and humor, and dedication and attention to her guests set the tone of the Villa Gloria experience. She will remain in my memories, always. Mario and Manda are perfect partners in the creation of a perfectly joyful workshop/vacation experience.”
